Getting started

Install SnipTray on your Mac

Download SnipTray from the Mac App Store and launch it for the first time.

SnipTray is a single 12 MB download from the Mac App Store — no installer, no system extension, and no kernel module. It runs as a tidy menu-bar app the moment you launch it.

Download and open

  1. 1 Open the Mac App Store and search for "SnipTray", or use the Download for Mac button in the site header.
  2. 2 Click Get, then Install. The download is small and finishes in a few seconds.
  3. 3 Launch SnipTray. A tray icon appears in your menu bar — that is the app running.

System requirements

  • macOS 13 Ventura or later.
  • An Apple ID with iCloud enabled (only needed for sync and team sharing).
  • Roughly 20 MB of memory while running — SnipTray is fully native Swift.

Note

SnipTray does not run at login until you tell it to. See Launch SnipTray automatically at login in Troubleshooting to enable it.
