Getting started
Your first copy and paste
The entire core loop: copy anything, open the tray, search, and paste.
SnipTray should not need a manual. The whole app is one loop you will learn in thirty seconds.
- 1 Press ⌘C anywhere — the snip is saved to your tray automatically.
- 2 Press ⌘⇧V to open the tray. Your newest snip sits at the top with a preview, a source app, and a timestamp.
- 3 Start typing to fuzzy-search across everything you have copied.
- 4 Press Return to paste the highlighted snip. SnipTray dismisses itself instantly.
That is the core experience. Everything else — pinboards, tags, iCloud sync, team sharing — builds on this same loop.
Tip
Prefer a one-handed hotkey? You can change ⌘⇧V to anything in Settings → Shortcuts. Many users settle on ⌥V.
